About the Author
Austin earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and History from the University of Connecticut. After two years of national service with City Year and AmeriCorps VISTA, he went on to complete his Master’s in Social Work from Westfield State University. He is a practicing social worker in the state of Massachusetts and has worked in the mental health field for nearly ten years. He currently works in emergency mental health where he meets people in their home or community when they are experiencing a mental health crisis. He is dedicated to working with individuals and their families to support them through the complex and ever changing moments of life.
With the precious time he is given, outside of work, he spends most days with friends and family. This may be taking a walk on a cool fall day, tending to chores around the house, talking into the evening over one too many cups of tea, or traveling to visit family who live far away. One day these moments will end and now is the time to enjoy them. He writes in the quiet moments he has or whenever the spark of inspiration comes.
A note to readers: This website contains the personal reflections of Austin as gathered through his own life experiences. This website is not meant to be used for any form of clinical advice or medical treatment. The writing within is not created in a professional capacity, but as a fellow human figuring out how to navigate life.
